Enjoying the distinction of being the longest continuously serving regiment in the Army, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment is one of the Army’s active “Strykerized” infantry and cavalry regiments. The brave men and women of the 2nd Cavalry have served in conflicts from the Civil War to Operation Enduring Freedom.
Garrisoned in Vilseck, Germany, the regiment has been deployed to multiple fronts in the War on Terror, securing American freedoms while taking ground from the enemy.
Minted from bronze, and accented with bold colored enamel on each side, this medallion is dedicated to the tireless service of the men and women of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. The obverse features the unit’s insignia with the unit’s motto “TOUJOURS PRET,” which means “Always Ready.” The reverse displays the flags of the United States of America and Germany, crossed in friendship, with the English translation of the unit’s motto below.
